Design: Object of Lust 6: S+tarck O-Ring Watch

The finest clothing made is a person's skin, but, of course, society demands something more than this. – Mark Twain

If you want to talk about something fine, this is it. I do have to admit to a slight fetish about watches. I have had quite a few in my life and it seems the more unusual the more they catch my eye. I currently wear an Invicta Lupah, but this watch... well, you know....

The Philipe S+arck (brand spelling, not mine) O-Ring watch has it all. An unusual dial, with a grommet smack in the middle. The current hour is displayed via digital readout, while the minutes tick by as compound black segments march around the ring. It has a hidden clasp on the leather strap; is water-resistant to 3 ATM, and is 41mm wide (that's 1.6 inches). It also comes in a multitude of colour combinations (dial and strap).

Philippe Starck is probably one of the most famous and prolific designer working today. He has "had his way" with lamps, door handles, cutlery, kettles, vases, clocks, yachts, homes, motorcycles, desks, beds, taps, toothbrushes, baths, toilets… you name it, he's done it.

Two previous posts in January give more information; one on the Louis Ghost chair, and the other the Juicy Salif citrus squeezer. (Honestly, he's not paying me anything. I just love his stuff.)

Sadly, this is one object of lust I cannot obtain. Nor can you. It's available from Fossil, but currently every site I can find either cites it as out of stock, or for pre-ordering. And, believe me, I looked.

I did find it for pre-order at www.Watchismo.com/preorder. For a designer watch, it's quite reasonable.

Now: $119.00
Temporarily out of Stock.

It even has a groovy box (of course).
